New Shoes!

So I finally took the plunge, although I almost started hyperventilating at the cash register. I have never spent that much money on shoes before, and especially for myself!!! But I figure if I want to continue and improve at this running lark I'd better gear up and get serious. I've been using them for a couple of weeks and my feet feel very well supported, but my right calf stiffens up as soon as I finish my run and gives me grief for the rest of the day. Could this be the new shoes correcting my alignment?

Did you have your gait analysis done by the shop where you got them from ?

Nice shoes. (regarding cost - I know!) Agree with Rustyrunner about having gait analysis. If you calf stiffens up, are you stretching?

Those are some nice kicks! Consider them an investment in your future self. I wonder if stretching may help the calf issue? Ie heel rolls etc? I won't say more as there are others far more experienced on that front than me 😀

If you had gait analysis... they should be okay! Make sure you are stretching after every run.. the calf can be a tricky thing :)

Try these nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... after every run.

Did you have a gait analysis? That is what we all want to know.

Argh it's too complicated a story...I really wanted to get one but my lovely sister gave me a gift card for a large impersonal sporting goods shop instead of the small friendly running shop. The big store does not offer gait analysis. So I did tons of online research and tried on many different shoes before choosing these ones. Next time I will definitely get an analysis but right now my main focus is comfort and support as my last bargain runners had neither. Phew!

I did the Brooks online shoe finder and it came up with a different shoe to the ones I bought after gait analysis. The video showed my knees and ankles came into perfect vertical alignment and my push off was from the inside toes rather than my small toe.........I am a convert.

The wrong shoes can do permanent damage.

Wow I'm kind of sorry that I asked now. I did the best I could under the circumstances... I couldn't afford the other option.
