NHS app - hope its good??

I started couch to 5 last week with an app (not the NHS one) and am having problems with it. I.e. it’s telling me I running a shorter distance and burning less calories. And yet I know I’m running further!

So I’m starting again with the NHS app. And I’ve chosen the lovely Sara Millican to guide me through it 😊

Still can’t quite believe I’m running 🏃🏻‍♀️!!

Running a shorter distance and burning fewer calories than what?

At this stage dont even think about distance and the calories you will be burning will be negligible but stick with it and you will achieve both in time.

As the week went on I was getting further along the route I’m doing but it didn’t show up on the app. Strange.

The nhs is a good app. I too chose Sarah Millican - I didn't want some Lycra clad sporty gazelle making me feel awkward!

At no time does this app mention distance, speed or calories - it's designed to get you running for 30 mins non stop SLOWLY and progressively.

The first few weeks are all about building your technique, posture and breathing whilst increasing time bit by bit. Then when you are ready you put it all together.

It's brilliant - you'll love it! 🏃😊❤️

Thanks Bestcat 😊 Interesting how the app doesn’t focus on distance and calories etc, that sounds great.

My old app was making me feel disheartened.

I think I’ll start from the beginning again.

I would if I were you - it's like learning to drive - you don't go out on the motorway on your first lesson!

Don't worry about 5k in fact like most people I graduated at around 3.5k.

Actually, don't measure your distance at all while doing the 9 week programme - take each run day at a time & don't be tempted to look ahead at future weeks until you get there.

Put your trust in the programme- it works!

We will all be supporting you - including Sarah - & we'll be ready with the champagne celebration in 9 weeks time!

Happy running 😎🏃
