Road Running Revelation!

Completed my W6 R3 yesterday on an actual road whilst staying with my daughter in Northumberland! It was much easier to keep a steady sustainable pace on smooth tarmac. In fact I felt so good after 25 minutes running that I just kept going through the 5 minute cool down and had to run on past the house! I had completed this particular road run in W2 and found it hard going, especially on the gradients. This time I managed to get about twice as far in the time. Couch25K is brilliant - the sense of achievement to go from gasping through 60 seconds of running to running comfortably for 30 minutes in just 6 weeks is thrilling! And no, I'm not doing anything like 5K, but who cares - I can run without stopping. Hope this encourages all of you who are on the earlier weeks in the programme. And a big thank you to those ahead of me & the graduates & the mentors - your posts have been helpful and inspiring. Good luck, everyone.

Congrats on the joy of discovering road running - much more fun than "indoors" in my humble opinion. But remember to not push yourself too far too fast - the programme is excellent - but it is very easy to pick up an injury and you'll end on in the "ic" when you want to be running.

Thanks for advice. I'll do exactly as MJ says in future! It was such a lovely feeling though, I couldn't resist running on!

Go you! Coincidentally also in Northumberland, Bamburgh on hol, completed wk 9 run 1 last night, a mixture of pavement, beach, golf club (really) and most unfortunately, a ruddy great hill.

Glad you are also enjoying this stunning county, feel so lucky to be able to do c25k, and fingers crossed, to graduate here would be amazing!

I couldn't agree more with you, GrannyO, this programme is truly transformative! I'm really glad that you had such a fab run - it sounds as though you're ready to power through the final three weeks! Great work! 😊
