So did Week 5 run 2 this morning - and failed. Only just - I had to stop 15 seconds before the end of the final 8 minute run but felt very annoyed with myself. Probably didn't help that I was in a foul mood yesterday and drank half a rather decent bottle of Burgundy with dinner which was Moroccan lamb and clearly a bit too spicy as I had terrible cramping again half way through the run! So I am going to repeat run 2 - that is OK isn't it? And does anyone know any really good sensible nutrition for runners plans? Not those stupid eat green spiralluna smoothie hipster type of things - just normal sensible healthy ones! Thanks all.

You didn't fail, no such thing when running, you practiced W5R2, nothing more than that. Chalk it up to a practice run and learn from the experience, your body has.

Every run you either complete or practice adds to increasing in your fitness and stamina levels.

You'll do it next time, just take it slow and steady, you'll kill it.

It was just a practice run, you have come this far, don't doubt yourself, you have got this. 😊

The best thing is that next time you get to have two feelings of achievement.

1- getting further than the point where you were today so that's a bonus.

2- completing W5R2.

So that's a double slap on the back

Not a fail just a practice and great experience. I now 'indulge' on run days after the run, as indulging on a rest day, could mean 'hangover' runs which are the invention of the devil.

I found food can give you hangovers too especially if rich, creamy etc.

Repeat the run, there's no harm in doing that and if it makes you feel better for the missing 15 seconds then that's a good thing.

You're doing well, the diet advice look at runners world.com for example. I find them sometimes a bit preachy, but there's some good stuff there.

No such thing as a failed run in this program, they are called practice runs!!

Next time take the pace back a little. As Oldfloss will tell you- Slow and steady will win this running game!!

Good luck for the next run 😊

Doesn't sound like a fail to me! 15 seconds is nothing, particularly after a heavy day the day before. If I were you I'd just carry on to run 3 - I'm sure you can do it. Maybe just keep off the spices and vino the night before just in case.

No.. we don't use the 'f' word.. just a blip..or a practice!

Slow and steady... preferably after a slightly less hedonistic meal :)

A well balanced healthy eating regime is all you need :) Not a diet.. just a great eating regime... :)

Thanks all for advice - and of course you are all right πŸ™„. I eat pretty healthily as we grow a lot of our veg and stuff - just a case of swapping in some good carbs for bad (spelt pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes) and watching the old portion control - oh and less wine 🍷- I think I may try to do run 3 on Saturday - if it turns into a "practice" I may just redo week 5 next week....
