Any other treadmill runners? I'm not brave enough to run in public or fit enough 😬 So I'm doing all my runs at home on my treadmill

Treadmill runners?
I'm a fellow treadmill runner, I have trouble regulating my pace outside, the treadmill does that for me. So far I've done up to week 7 using it and I usually run with at least 1 degree of incline to properly simulate running outside on the flat.
Just go slow and steady, don't try to go to fast, just try to find a pace that allows you to complete the run you are on.
Remember to post and update us on how you are doing.
I mix treadmill and outdoor running and am happy on either, so long as you enjoy your running and are making progress that's what matters.
Quite a few others... by choice or necessity You are running, so well done you...
Running in public.. well. fit enough... ? Okay, maybe not yet... but many of us were exactly the same as you at the beginning... and not brave enough???
Well.... you have decided to do this and that is the hardest step.... so... maybe try at least one run outside
If folk stare... they are a) jealous or b) in total awe, c) runners who are wishing they were out running, or d) just rude stare-a -bears!
If you head out, and keep it slow and steady you may find you amaze yourself... We are all there running alongside you... I am the one whispering, " steady and slow"
Come on.... Show me your Brave
Yep treadmill running here, started at the gym ...initially as part of my warm up ....however after cracking the first 20 min run Friday and following it up with a 50 min session with my PT. think Ill be rethinking that strategy lol.
Did the full thing three years ago, mostly outside. This time I have so far done it all to Week 8 on a treadmill - it feels a bit like cheating because there are no headwinds or weather to contend with. But you have a lot more control of your pace and the ability to up the pace precisely if you are feeling good. There is an element of not wanting to be seen out and about in an area where you are well known. In your head the number of people saying "What a fool" outnumbers the people thinking "Wow, wish I could do that". The reality may be the opposite.
Well done for having a go. If you like the treadmill that's fine and all that matters. I really recommend you try running outside just to compare the experience. You might find like LeeU that it's easier to regulate your pace and keep track of your progress on a treadmill. On the other hand, you might love running outside - I do! Good luck.
I mix outdoors and treadmill - mainly depending on the weather!
I must confess that I prefer outdoors.
My first few weeks were spent avoiding people that I knew (hence the hat & sunglasses). But by the time my "secret" was out the response was definitely "I wish I could do that!"
And guess what .....Some of them are!!!!
I at Wk5 with Run 2 tomorrow. I I done it completely on the treadmill. I put a DVD on and of I go, it suits me. I will try outside but not yet. I have booked on 5 k run in York in November so will have to go outside before then
I mostly run on treadmill n like u felt a bit shy of outdoors so I took myself to a park near but not too near where I live n ran there-felt less self conscious but it was a bit boring running round & round!
We have a lovely seafront that hubby runs most days but I'm just not brace enough YET!
I am a treadmill runner too. I am a little older (70) and prefer the lower impact a treadmill provides and found my knees and feet protested too much when I tried running on a hard surface. It is also a little less embarrassing when I end up looking like an unmade bed (rumpled) which had been left out in the rain (and sweating profusely). . I managed to do the full C25K twice (following an injury to my Achilles I went back to the beginning again) and am quite happy plodding along at a steady pace whilst listening to my ipod (I found the That's What I Call Running Music boxed set of CD's really helpful too)
