Day 1 Run 1

Out early before the temperature went up too high and OMG I done it! Legs like jelly by the time I got back up the hill and please don't shout but I have to go down a hill to get flat ground lol so my biggest challenge was getting back up the hill when I finished! Didn't realise how unfit I had become actually looking forward to Wednesday!

You have done the hardest part, in my opinion, you have done W1R1, well done. Your fitness and stamina will improve pretty quickly, you'll be running back up the hill before too long.

Well done - major step towards a healthier you - congrats on getting out the door and never apologise, the running gods "Nike" "Puma " and "Adidas" - (other running gods are available at all good running god outlets) don't like it.

Well done anyway!!!!!

Keep it very slow and very steady!!! Not unfit...just out if condition... with every run you will get stronger and fitter. Use your rest days for other non-impact exercise.. walking, or swimming, yoga... strength and flex and maybe core strength and stamina exercises.

You are going to be just fine:)

Thank you I'm planning to use the NHS strength and flexibility podcast on my rest days and maybe a walk to keep me moving? What's your thoughts?

That will be great! Many of us used the Strength and Flex and many walk too..:)

As you move on... swimming, cycling or yoga etc..then core strength and stamina all become useful exercise too... lots of ideas out there...:) Also.. never discount a housework blitz or a day gardening.. all add to work on building our bodies up!!

Thank you fabulous support and advise on this site I must say 😃

Is the Strength and Flex available as an app too or just podcasts? I can't find it. Can you download a podcast onto a phone or only apple devices? If so, where does it put it on the phone?

(Excuse my technological ignorance, suddenly just running seems so much easier...)

in reply toLangley-Loper

I have the podcast and I'm afraid I answer anymore than that 🙁 other users may be able to help

hello, I had to look it up too! I don't listen to music on my phone so I'd never considered where that stuff goes...

Download the podcasts onto your non-apple device from here: nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Strength... and then maybe google the model of your phone and "where are my downloads" or something like that?

There is also a week-by-week description which I find useful (though it's very tempting to just skip bits using this!) - nhs.uk/Livewell/strength-an...

Well done you. Someone wiser than I once said, the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. You've done that first step. Now, all you have to do is keep going.

You've actually done the hardest part I think, well done! I know how hard that mental step was for me. I should have done this years ago. Well done, and I wish you all the best.

Oh - and... slow and steady!!!
