Good afternoon. So as I'm working from home I took the opportunity to go out at lunch. Didn't want to dwell on the first 30 minute run too much. I did a route to school last Thursday in week 8 and I've now decided to keep that route. On Map My Run it is 6.59km so it should keep me going for a while before I end up running past my house again. That target is to close the gap at the end of the running from 1.5km away from home to zero. Quite a nice little post grad challenge I think.
Got to admit, I did struggle today. Have a lot of tension in my neck and it was giving me a horrible headache as I ran. Also twinged my ankle avoiding 2 prams hidden around the corner at the top of Hilton Hill (signed up to Strava today and it has named this segment automatically 😂). It wasn't painful to stop me but ached a little. So now I'm enforcing my 2 day rest before day 2. The gremlins were trying their level best to get me but I just about managed to lock them away.
One thing that upset me (even more than poor Erica's hamster passing away last night and having to tell her this morning) is that Michael seems to have said his goodbyes already?! I know they repeat the same recording, but surely for something as social as graduation week they could've done 2. One for runs 1 and 2 and then his goodbye speech for run 3?
Final thing. Even though I felt like a struggled. I just looked at my km splits. I really can't grumble at the stats considering it felt so tough due to the headache. This is last Monday, Thursday and today.

When I open the app I can see the trophy now, greyed out but waiting to be lit up. I am planning on doing the PR again this Saturday and that would be a lovely way to graduate I think. Even if there are stairs
Good luck for tomorrow, I will try my best to get on here and see your report.
It was sad having to tell her this morning. But they soon bounce back as on the way to school she was choosing the name for Natty's replacement!
Oops - just replied to your reply and now reading this realise you’ve done run1 already - brilliant! I’ve also just signed up to Strava, having been using Runkeeper but reading that its worth the switch. Wonder what made you shift over and will you stay with it?
Strava came about because I had an email from Parkrun and it was mentioned on there. Had a little look and seeing that it works in sync with my Fitbit Blaze was a selling point. And as people know I love stats and there are so many on there. Even though it's using the Fitbit data it provides so much more than fitbit does for my stats fix! I love the bit where it tells you how hard you've worked based on heart rate.
Thank you - yes I loved that hard work thing too. Haven’t got into parkrun since we moved upcountry, but hope to. As you say, it seems to be more and more widely used. Love the motivation the stats give but am slightly change-averse! Given your points, might stay with it and give it a chance 😊
Brilliantly done MrsT... Sorry about Erica's hamster she must have been very upset and its never great running with a headache, I find the pounding makes it much worse, even though i try to do old floss's kissing the ground. And i agree with you on Mr Smooth, just a little more attention would have been very welcome...
Only 2 to go, shiny badge flipping in its box waiting for you
