Soo I'm on week 8 run 2. Currently doing 3 k in 28 mins but when will
I hit that magical 5k? Want to do a park run in oct but I am only doing 3k. Also on slimming world and just got no energy for runs at the mo. Feeling a little deflated today.

I haven't hit 5k yet either! I'm now managing 5k in 42 minutes but that includes the 5 minutes warm up and cool down at the end. I think the expectation is really to be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping rather than hit 5k in 30 minutes after 9 weeks. That comes with time but sounds like you're doing just great to me.
The majority of people doing this training plan do not achieve 5k in 30 minutes. Some never do, but you can keep running past 30 mins to hit that target after graduation and then you will be able to run the whole of parkrun with no problem.
You say you are deflated............could you run 3k, thats nearly 2 miles, just a few weeks ago? You have made great strides and if you can accept that you may not get into the next Olympic squad, you are a runner and we all respect your achievement.
Keep going, think positive and don't compare yourself to others. You are running for you.
30 minute runs are what is needed for Graduation.. that is all... just keep it slow and steady and if that 5K comes along that is fine... if not..it will be a target for the running journey after Graduation
As IannodaTruffe says, you are doing wonderfully, embrace that and move forwards steadily
Thanks guys for the inspiration I am comparing myself and I am my own worst enemy really. Went out and bought a running top (as it's a little cooler now) so that cheered me up a little. I've signed up for a 2 mile fun run next weekend to give myself a kick up the backside but I just thought I would be able to run a 5k at the end of week 9.
