Parkrun is about your time, not anybody else's, so don't worry about being good enough.

It would be a good idea to do a 5k run outdoors before heading off to parkrun, just to get an idea of the difference between dreadmill and the big outdoors. Some find this transition tough, but be patient and you will get there.

Have a great time.

I agree with have an outside trial first and when you do go to Parkrun if you finding it harder take the pace down and even walk to complete it if that helps, you will be less likely to injure yourself if you just go at your own pace. Parkruns are great for giving you that space.

Agree with the other replies Paul. You should be more than ready to do parkrun whenever you fancy now, but remember not to try for speed. Especially has you haven’t run outside before.

You could go along, start off super slowly and see how things go. You might find it harder than expected, in which case you can walk for a bit (which is totally fine), or you may be able to continue on. It’s your parkrun, so go a pace to suit you!

It’s fun - try it! 🏃👏

Hi Paul.

If it were me, I would run at least once a week outside. Doesnt have to be 5k, just find a nice run and give it a go. Take it slow and steady, listen to your body, and build outside running from there. Enjoy.

Paul. Hi. I don’t think you need to worry. I have done all my runs outside and today did my first treadmill run 🏃🏼‍♀️ wow was it hard. For me harder than running outside. Managed to run for 30 mins but no way near my usual distance. I guess we just need a bit of practice..... but it will come.... I am sure you will be fine.

I'd go for an outdoor run on my own first, then head down to ParkRun, but it doesn't matter which order so long as you enjoy it. You don't even have to do 5km the first time out, you could aim for 3km and see how you feel. Good luck.

cheers mate

treadmill is fine. However, you'll find outside a tad harder - both in terms of energy/effort needed and also on the legs. Do you have the treadmill at a slight incline? Tat will help compensate for the effort requirement bit.
