Finished this one this morning and feeling good. Does anyone else find the first 90 seconds the worst? Also, can anyone recommend some head phones that won't keep falling out of my ears? They're driving me potty.

My legs have felt like lead for the first 6 mins at least on every run I've ever done and I'm just starting week 9. I've found just the standard issue iPhone earphones have done a good job for me so far. Keep up the good work:)!!!

That's reassuring to hear, good luck with week 9!

Same for me, I'm on week 6 and it still takes a while to loosen up. Keep going! I use hook over ear phones, not had a problem with them. hitari.co.uk/panasonic-rphs....

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking I'm not warming up properly but if everyone gets it then I'll not try to walk brisker, good luck with week 6

I asked the same question about 7 weeks ago so I'll pass forward the information that I received. The first 5 minutes are often the worst due to "toxic legs". Who knows whether that's a real thing or I fell foul of the runners equivalent of a trainee apprentice being sent to the stores to get stripey paint, but it certainly affects me. Once you know it will pretty much always be there, it's easier to ignore, so don't worry - keep on pushing through, it only gets more rewarding from here.

I got around that issue by running really slowly and would gradually increase speed as I'd warm up. Eventually the problem went away as my legs and stamina got stronger. On an odd day if my legs feel 'heavy' nowadays it's likely to be related to lack of good sleep, work induced tiredness etc.. Don't forget to hydrate well a day before the run either!

Toxic legs? I like that, giving it a name makes it feel like something to beat each run, even if it is a long weight situation.

Lots of good choices online. Google 'sports headphones', they come as affordable as £10. You need the ones the can be clipped around each ear, those guys stay on no matter how hard you head bang to the groove of your fave track ;)

Google shall have to be consulted, and perhaps less head banging for the time being.

I remember having some years ago that were comfortable and played ball by staying put but they're long gone.

I've got EARBUDi clips which fit on to most ear bud type headphones and turn them into ones that clip over your ear. They're about £9 on Amazon and great if you have a favourite pair of headphones (for me it was my trusty old apple ones) but wish they clipped on rather than just poked in. Otherwise, yeah, there are loads of really decent and affordable sports headphones. Well done with the running - I'm only a run behind you... w2r2 tomorrow!!

I'll have a look at those thanks, nice to keep the same ones as they sound good, good luck tomorrow.

I don't so much get the toxic legs issue but every run for the first 6 weeks as soon as I started running my brain said this is a stupid thing to do. Just go home now. Really hard to resist (but I did). Your post reminds me I haven't had that for a while.

That's encouraging that the urge to go home will leave, having to change my route so the temptation to nip home isn't right next to a little short cut back.
