There are loads of diets that promise fast weight loss. They are not healthy and just make people get fatter. Exercise is about building a life long habit that will make you fitter, sleeker and happier. You have asked this question a few times now. Perhaps you need to stop worrying about the formal (one night in your life). Just go with some good friends who don't care what weight you are and have fun. Maybe think about making long term changes to your diet and lifestyle. Look at the NHS weight loss forum for ideas for a healthy diet. Start the C25K and we will all be here to cheer you on :)

We're a friendly lot here on C25K forum, with a positive, uplifting approach. Very supportive and empowering. And I always try to adopt a helpful tone. But not today.

Jess, cut the crap, OK? Three posts in 4 days about fast weight loss for your formal in 2 months. Just get started on this program. Start today and you could be near graduation in time for your formal. And with a suitable non-crash calorie controlled diet, you could lose some weight and be more toned and trim. But you have to get started, you have to put the effort in and you have to forget all about fast weight loss. Start today.

You specifically asked about walking for weight loss. You'll need to walk 2 hours every day to achieve weight loss with a suitable diet. So get up one hour earlier, and walk for an hour. That's brisk walking, ideally up hills. Walk 30 minutes in your lunch break, and walk 30 minutes when you get home from work. Every day. In the dark. In the rain. It is going to take commitment and effort. If you want to tone your body, then do C25K per the program as well.

There are 2 easier approaches (if you really want to lose weight fast):

1) Google 'lose weight fast' and send money off to buy the pills. I guarantee that you'll lose £££ very quickly :-)

2) Pick one of your limbs - any one, leg, arm (it does not matter). Cut it off ;-) Now you've suddenly lost 10% of your body weight. Mission accomplished: fast weight loss (requires a very high level of commitment).

My point is... there are no short cuts. And every day that you spend looking for a short cut is a day wasted. Walk 2 hours today, post tonight about how it went, and repeat tomorrow.

MarkyD may sound brutal but he is just telling you that there is no safe way to rapidly lose weight.

For weight loss to be safe and not just a dip on a rollercoaster, you need to have a healthy diet and to exercise regularly each and every day of your life.

Cut out all processed food. Reduce to a minimum the amount of sugar you consume. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and a wide variety of foods.

Many people have success with calorie counting apps such as My fitness pal. Weight loss requires your input of calories to be less than the number you burn in a day.

Regular exercise, such as running, will make you feel better about yourself and you will not want to compromise the fitness gained by going back to a poor diet.

It all takes willpower and effort.............do it for you for the rest of your life, not just for one evening.
