W6R1 was really hard, but today was a joy even for an old beginner!

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging posts πŸ™‚ I was worried today because the last run was so tough, but I'd read the advice about putting a 'bad run' behind you and I decided to carry on. My route up till now has been along a lovely section of old railway track, but today I went in the opposite direction with a favourite playlist to help motivate me. For the first time I didn't worry about being too old at 63, and I didn't care about my over-the-top fluoro running shoes, which I bought because I was so desperate to escape from the running shop after a very helpful assistant put me through my paces out on the pavement in the city centre. I realised that I could enjoy the experience of running, however slowly, and explore new places at the same time. It was brilliant, and even if I was never able to run again, it would all have been worth it just for today!

I think you just discovered why most of us run......... brilliant!

Carry on with the programme and you will be able to explore further and further.

As for age...............stick with this for a few months and you will be years younger.

Good luck.

Sounds like everything fell into place

Hey fluoro is great. It gives you go faster vibes or at least that's what I believe. This morning I rocked up in a purple, yellow and orange top, with fluoro green tee shirt. Yes I looked like a pack of magic marker highlighters, but if we didn't buy fluoro who would?

Age is but a number made up by the age Nazis, to make you feel you're doing something inappropriate. And what you're doing is wholly appropriate and brilliant.

If only I could have convinced my mum at 63 to start running and taking care of herself... Think of all the people who are cheering you on. Me too!

Really appreciate your encouragement .. Your mum was probably doing all the necessary things that I'm escaping from, like housework and gardening! But I do like being a grannie, and I have some very speedy little grandchildren to keep up with, so that's my excuse. Love the red hat btw!

Oh no... you get to do those things, on rest days; they count towards strength and stamina exercises..:)

I am walking, on average, ten miles a day, ( five miles morning, five in the afternoon), two days a week, with my small granddaughter in her buggy, too!

You are gonna be so fit!!!!

Your reply really made me think, and I'm going to try to be more positive about keeping active on 'rest days'! The encouragement I've had this week really helped me to push through this morning to the end of my first 25min run 😊 Thank you!
