I've just started a new job, and so I haven't been able to go for a run since Tuesday it was really hard, and I couldn't make it through the 8 minute run. I had to stop running about 5 minutes in, but I kept moving, and managed to do the final 5 minute one won't leave it as long next time!
Week 6 Run 1, ish: I've just started a new job... - Couch to 5K
Week 6 Run 1, ish
Well done on the new job, I guess changes in life can unbalance these things... Just carry on as best you can and it will all slot back into place, you will be back up to the challenge before long 😀
Good luck with the new job! Don't beat yourself up. You did really well getting out there and making time for it.
Do not worry too much about having to take more days between runs... just be aware and start of slower than usual, and maintain that sustainable pace
This is why we stress the importance of strength and stamina exercises... on rest days and run days too. Core strength is essential as part of the programme and as the runs get longer; Making a little regime for yourself for use each day, may help to keep you feeling on track.
Lots around to take ideas from..

It is hard and life does get in the way and a new job too ! Just finding a slot where you can use your regime may help on the long run
( Pardon the pun :))
Very well done anyway
Sometimes life just gets in the way but well done for getting back out there and onwards and upwards from here
A run is a run is a run, as Irish-John always says, this one is in the running bank and has brought you back in. Well done on getting out there...
Don't worry about it at all. Plus, you did a 20 min run at the end of week 5 - don't forget that! If it takes an extra run or 20 extra runs complete the programme - so be it. It is not set in stone,
Well done for getting back out there, Kudos.
I'm in the same boat. New work screwing up my usual schedule. Just takes a bit of time to readjust things though, and like when we started this program a bit of stretching ourselves beyond the "comfort zone"
It's all good though. Slow and Steady and the long term view - there will always be those"practice' days for whatever reason, but every run is a run and each one takes you further from where you were on the sofa
Good for you for going out at all
Agree with Irish John. Sometimes your mental energy needs to be 100% on something else (in your case a new job - a big deal indeed!!). I think most on this forum would agree that the programme is partly/mostly a mental activity that you need the headspace for and sometimes things just get in the way. As long as it's still there, on a back burner, you'll always return to it and when you look back, it will have been a blip. I've certainly had a few blips (in fact just getting over the hump of one now) but we're in it for the long haul, so you'll be back on track soon, RR, no doubt. 😉
