So week 4 is up and running. And after the fairly gentle (in hindsight anyway) introduction to the programme, things have definitely begun to step up.

I completed week 3 by running 5 minutes as I was feeling that it was achievable. As a result, I felt confident going into tonight-surely it was just a matter of turning up, tuning in and trotting round.

Wrong. Of course, I hadn't factored in the overall running time. From 3 weeks of 8-9 minutes running time, suddenly we're at 16 minutes-more running than walking, even taking into account the warm up and warm down.

The main pros-1. I did it. Stopped dead on time, but done 2. The three minute runs go past quite quickly. I have "landmarked" my usual course so I have a decent rule of thumb of time done 3. My breathing is fine. Yes I was out on my feet at the end, but not out of puff. The upper body is fine (no stitches yet), but the legs are still protesting at the hard work. Think it's time to look at some decent running shoes, particularly as I might be moving from local park to roads as Autumn takes hold.

So Mr Cocky is now Mr "Listen to Michael". Until Week 4 Run3 no doubt.

Shoes.... oh yes... our best asset :)

Mr Smooth will guide you through never fear. W4 mixes it up a bit, but find your happy pace and you will be fine

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was quite shocked at what week 4 throws at you!! Game changer isn't it?!!

I've managed to do 2 runs so far but I feel as though this is the week where things start to get tougher!!

Hang in there and together we'll beat this!!

We definitely will. Noticed there were others on the run tonight who appear to be doing the programme, but, I would estimate, on Week 3. Definitely feel that it's stepping up. But, as I write, 2 hours after the event, the legs are fine and the tight calves of week 1 are very definitely a thing of the past. Beginning to eye up that big challenge at the end of Week 5

I had half an eye on that challenge too and I have to admit it was beginning to worry me a bit but I've decided to ignore it and hopefully it'll disappear!!

Just 'cos your a fella Tim doesn't mean you don't need to do some stretching after your warm down walk. Might help with aching legs.
