Done and dusted. A day later than planned due to ridiculous day at work yesterday (8am-11pm...don't ask)
Seeing a pattern. First jog to clear the cobwebs, second to settle into a groove, third 90seconds to consolidate. Final 3 minutes is actually quite easy. Breathing patterns are fine and I've learnt how not to get out of breath. The tip given on breathing in Week 2 has really come into its element
I used to run a lot at school-was in the cross country and middle distance athletics teams (1500 always my favourite distance), but have barely done any dedicated running since. Couple of 10ks 25 years ago, but otherwise mostly football, tennis and cricket until I stopped playing 4/5 years ago.
What I have discovered tonight is that the things I learnt at school-posture, pace, breathing etc have all started to come back. Main "problem" is the legs protesting about being subjected to all this again. Well-legs-that's tough. No pain no gain. My arms have adopted an air of smugness..
Final three minutes. I have a landmark or two on my usual route that are at 3 and 4 min 15 distance. Like last week I kept going past the three minutes and reached the 4 min 15. I wanted to do it as I know 5 mins is coming next week. Little steps, but, like last week when I reached 2 mins (working towards this week's 3), it gives me the confidence and boost for the longer times to come.
Roll on Saturday
