Like Capsicle

I did my first 'bout' today. I downloaded the app about a year ago, so could never be accused of over-keenness! But no more excuses. At 63 I need to get with the programme as I know my general stamina, breathing and circulation are really poor and I could really do with taking a stone off. Mostly my motivation is to be around for a long time in order to enjoy my wonderful partner, kids and grandkids longer. So I managed to run for all or some of the run sections apart from the last one when I actually had to squat for 20 seconds or so as I felt dizzy! Maybe I shouldn't have chosen to make the last two running sections uphill 😐 So keep going Capsicle, I'm with you in spirit! Advice please from anyone out there, do you carry water and drink while you run? If so how? And also what do people do with their mobile phones while running? I carried mine but got quite sweaty, so probably not a good idea.

Well done, you will get there. This plan changes lives and it is never too late to start.

Have a rest day and repeat any workout that you have not completed. You are in control.

Hydration is crucial but you need to keep fluid intake up throughout the day, not just immediately before or during a run. The NHS recommend that you drink a minimum of 1.2litres per day, if exercising you need considerably more. You should not need to drink while running C25K if you are well hydrated beforehand.

I carry my phone in a Karrimor waist belt.......very cheap from Sports Direct. Best not to carry anything when running, as your hands need to be relaxed, not tensed.

Enjoy your journey to a new life.

Hi Patti I always carry water, but it's blinking hot where I am and it's as much to have something cool to hold and to wet my whistle. Don't really need the water if I've drunk beforehand, but little sips help me. I have my phone in an armband, there's oodles of choice.

I also at the start seemed to always end up running uphill, just slow it right down at this stage and it works out. If you're puffing hard, you're probably going a little too fast.

Let us know how you get on, you've stayed the course by remembering the download , I can't remember what I did last week! Well done you on kicking the couch, the first run is always the hardest.
