Hi all,
After the high of a parkrun on Saturday week 8 didn't start so well. I woke up with gremlins - back a bit sore, didn't like what I saw on the scales, general lethargy. I dragged myself out there and during the 5 min warm up the gremlins were saying 'this isn't going to go well'. Sure enough Sanjeev seemed to say the warm up was over too soon and we were off. Urgh it was really hard work getting through the first 5 minutes. For some reason my phone arm-band was really bothering me and the gremlins were screaming 'after all that sucesss you're going to fail today'.
I dug in and got through the toxic ten, then sure enough the internal clouds started to lift and there was no getting away from the fact that it was a really beautiful Oxfordshire morning. I am very lucky to have a gorgeous circular 4k route. I spend about 2 minutes on roads and apart from that it's paths through fields and a disused railway path. It's almost completely flat except for a blissful minute of downhill off the old railway path that comes at 15 mins.
Today was more of a slog than a pleasure, but I got through it and there is a certain satisfaction from overcoming gremlins - even if you remain irritated that they dared to come back when it was going so well.
Countdown to graduation - only 5 more runs!
