Bad run.

I did W4R1 on Monday and really struggled. I had a really bad day today, but dragged myself out anyway. I tried R2 tonight and just couldn't do it, within the first 3 minutes had stopped. It was like my legs didn't know how to run anymore. I went back and redid a week 3 run, as I knew I could do that, but really struggled through that too. Gutted and annoyed at myself.

Oh dear, seems like you're going through a rough patch. It happens to us all so don't beat yourself up.

Take your rest day, then put on your running shoes and just run, slow and steady. It's not a competition so it doesn't matter how far you run just keep running till you're told to stop.

You've done so well to get to W4 you can definitely do this.

Good luck. Go for it!

Thank you, needed to hear that!

Shake down, give yourself a hug. It didn't work out. Don't be annoyed, don't get angry, get even. Give yourself an extra rest day if you need it. Work on your head for next time, and your legs will follow I promise.

All runs count, it added to your stamina and km bank. A run is a run is a run as Irish-John always says.

Good luck next time out

Okay... well... start by easing up on yourself.

You had a bad day...you went out and it was not a happy run... but you tried.:) The run was tricky, so you put yourself through some more effort and that didn't work.. . It happens:)

You did brilliantly... don't be annoyed... be proud that you tried... and know that after a day's rest... or more.. you are going to come back to this run, ready to do it!

One thing you do learn as the running journey goes on...is to be kinder to yourself... you are your best asset... take care of it :)

We are humans, not predictable machines :)

There are always going to be days where I will stop short on my route because " I just do NOT want to do this!" :)

However, there are also runs where I never feel so free in my life :)

And tons of runs fall in between. :)

My worst day running is still pretty darn better than my best days of being a slob on the sofa :)

Slow and steady at your own pace - you will get there, promise you that :)

Just want to say thank you for all your words of support last week. I took it steady last week, and tonight smashed W5R2. Felt really good, despite a stitch due to a badly timed late lunch.

Thank you all so much!

Having only just started out (WK 1 newbie!) I'm in awe that you're at week four but your post reminded me of some advice a friend shared with me 'There are good runs and bad runs but even a bad run is good for you'. Keep going 😊

Only bad run is the one you did not take - all the others are practice or success ones ;)

And same to you! If you had told me 6 weeks ago I would be about to get changed to go for a run I am looking forward to, I would have told you you were drunk 😉. Thank you for your kind words- you will be catching me in no time!! 🏃🏻‍♀️
