I skipped crunches, sit ups, planks and other merry bits for three weeks while on baking holiday (as in baking hot sunny holiday). I simply couldn’t do it in that heat so I just ran and swam but it’s funny what my body had to say about that. I did several runs back in London, all well, no probs, and then resumed by plankin’n’crunchin’ service, simply by doing the same amount as I did before the holiday. It all happened of my rest day so when I next pummelled my local park I figured something wasn’t quite right. I was too slow, slower than ever and felt my stomach and thighs burning, feeling full and heavy. Basically, I over planked myself. I crunched more than my body liked. More sit ups than common sense. Muscles were on limit.
