Week 5, day 3 done ✔

Many people don't realise how beautiful Lancashire is, lush green countryside and rolling hills, yes those bloody rolling hills.

Our running group meets at a different venue on Saturday mornings for our day 3. A rugby club and football club next to a park which like most of Lancashire is perched on a hill. It's often said it's a place where you are either walking down a hill or you are walking up one, I guess you can see where this is going. Our group leader was over the moon to tell us she had a special treat in store, we would be doing a section of the park run course, but only a bit of it, the very worst bit, the hilly bit of it and because it was only a bit we would be able to do that bit several times. Yep, let's run down this hill so we can run up it, then same again and again. That must have been the longest twenty minutes of my life.

Just to prove she is not wired up right she had to dash off afterwards as she had a fell to run.

I'm sure her enthusiasm and drive will make some kind of runners of us but I'm not sure this 64 year old, overweight, first time runner is really cut out for this.

Gosh, all that hill running, but you managed to crack w4r3 so it can't all be bad. Well done and good luck for week 6. :-)

Well done Ericslad! I must disagree with you however- You are DEFINITELY cut out for this- you just ran for 20 minutes uphill and down dale :)

Oh god, man, this sounds like a proper workout - but the workout that you seem to be able to do, well done! I, after a year of running, still run on my own. We are all different, many like the motivational and social aspect of this amazing exercise but so far I find it most relaxing when I do it alone, out there, with some classic rock on ;) If you find it difficult to follow the group, perhaps you should try a lone run at your own pace, and choose a path that you prefer?

I probably wouldn't have done it without being part of this group, its run by a great bunch of people. W5D3 is a bit of a jump anyway just a tough hill.

If you are faced with hills where you live, I suppose you have to run up them Ericslad.😊

Fantastic work by you getting *that* run done on that route. Sounds like you enjoy the camaraderie of your running group too.

Lancashire is a beautiful part of the country, because of its rolling hills...

By the sound of it, you are doing fine. There will be a few ups & downs along the way but the rewards are massive, you will forget all the aches - and yes, the runners are a great bunch of people :)

You'll be fine! Just go steady, do the work and you will get fitter, no doubt about it 💪🏃it's fun too! What's not to like 😀

I have not seen much of Lancs, but what I have seen is fab! Morecambe bay, Sunderland Point, the area round the smoke house at Glasson, further up to Grange and Arnside. ,Forest of Bowland is beautiful isn't it 😀I have not run up there yet but Morecambe might be on the cards for me if we go to the away game. I want to run on the seafront there.

I am 60 quite soon, had never run before C25k, but am loving it and have come on no end since those first tentative steps. If you eat well too then you can look forward to much better health 🙂

If you do.. you will see Eric Morecambe :)

Oh Eric you so are cut out for it. Don't be intimidated by the superfit lady in charge. You did the infamous W5R3 up and down a blinking hill. And yes Lancashire hills are lush and tough. Keep going, keep your own pace, keep your own momentum and you will continue to be a runner of strength and fortitude.

Thanks Jan, it's Paul (Ericslad). I can do it and I will do it and I'm sure those slight undulations as she call them will do us good in the end.

in reply to

Paul, glad to hear it. I thought the scheme was a great idea combining virtual C25K within a club environment. So I really didn't want you to have doubts about it... keep going my Lancashire friend.

Thanks again Jan. I'm saying nothing about your new photo.

Just had a Homer moment (Simpsons) Ericslad is Eric'slad I thought your username was a short version of your full name like Eric Sladderback or something similar. Sorry for being so dim...
