Week 7 was 11 days!

That was a big gap! Ankle / foot better & with the insoles, my arch is much better now.

Despite the fact that I thought I would feel better running today (I wasn't worried about decreased fitness over the gap as had good speed 2k swim last night) as the temp was 16 - 19 degrees and wind speed 11 - 17 mph (with thunder at the start), I still went beetroot!

Didn't really enjoy it and at the 20 min mark hit a big wall (exercise type not brick) but promised myself that it meant I would get some endorphins soon :) - not sure I did. Legs like lead.

5 mins from the end, the insole now started to rub. I did complete the run but walking was so sore, I had to take the insole out to do the 5min walk. Now have a blister on my sole. Shows that determination gets one to the end of the run though!

Which means I will complete it but not sure will run the full 5k in the Race for life at the end of September as the 25mins run covers about 2.6 k. Never mind a 5 min warm up walk, run what I can, then walk the rest perhaps.

I think I need proper shoes, I have convinced myself that they will not only make runs easier but will probably improve my gait/posture during normal walking and may even help my back twinges.

Felt bit down after today's run but feeling bit better now as I did finish. Hope I enjoy the next run.

The ups and downs of running, upside you did it, downside blisters. As my mega fit running mate says your feet are your foundation, so maybe the proper shoes will do the right thing for your running. September is getting close but if you run/walk the race, then you've done what you can. Hopefully normal enjoyable service will resume next time out.... good luck with it, and let's hope those pesky lead legs have been replaced with go faster titanium...

I used to do yoga and "your feet are your foundation" was important there (and also when I did Judo as a kid). I think I will have to get proper shoes or who know what bit will give out next.

True enough, good luck finding them.

Well done!!

I wouldn't underestimate the effect of the correct shoes on performance, posture and general comfort when running. Gait analysis is well worth it in my view.

Yes I have also found a place and just by coincidence a friend said they had been there and recommended them. Now just time to fit it in, I have a friend visiting in a couple of days and the place is a mess!
