After too many excuses I completed week 1 r1 this morning. Being able to run 5k doesn't seem possible at the moment...45 and very unfit....

Well done Don, got to start somewhere I’ve found. I’m 53 and already feeling a little bit fitter 😊

I’m 46 & v unfit but just been plugging away run by run & now on w6r1. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. Keep going you’ll be golden!

Well done & I think we all felt like that at the start. You will look back as you get further on & think I never thought I'd get this far. I'm only at the start of W5 & I still feel like that. You will amaze yourself. Just take it slow & steady. I've had to slow down massively from when I first started - I was going way too fast but took the advice from the folks on here & it worked. Good luck.

You’re in the right place then Don. Keep going and you’ll be fine.

Hey Don! You will amaze yourself. I’m 49, very unfit (less so now) and about 3 stone overweight. Started the plan on the 6th of April. Could hardly complete the 60 second runs. Ached like hell after the first couple of runs too. All in all the usual kind of start for most people you’ll meet here.

Anyway, got up this morning and ran for 20 minutes without stopping ( sorry, I’ve been telling that to everyone who’ll listen!) and the point is that in a few weeks, if you do nothing more than stick to the plan you will do that too and feel equally chuffed with yourself. Forget the 5k for now, forget speed, just do the intervals, take the rest days and share your experiences here. You CAN do this Don. You really can.

Same message here, Don. I’m 60, overweight, and hadn’t run for decades. Thought w1r1 was ridiculously tough, but realised I had to slow right down and from there it got easier. That first run was the toughest of all, in fact. And I’ll be doing my first 20 minute run on Thursday:)

Well done for getting out there and more well done for posting about your new adventure. Find a buddy on here at the same stage. Sharing is good. Take it slow and take it one session at a time. Just follow the programme, listen to your body (especially your knees for the first couple of weeks) and be prepared to astonish yourself :-)

It’s fab that you got out there. I am so unfit and overweight and I’m on w2r1 and each time I think I’m not going to manage but I have. Keep going, go at your own pace.

Not what you're looking for?
