Still on wk5

I've been suffering from a cough/cold for over a week & not done any exercise/runs since a week Thursday & that was indoors (wk5 R1) as I was worried about not making it feeling ill. I'm feeling slightly better & im going back to the gym this week. Any tips, do I start again from wk 5 to see if I can make it, or wk 4? I just wondered if anyone had had to take a break - I'm gutted as I was feeling fitter before this hit me! Thanks

All runners, at whatever level, have enforced breaks from their current training. The only way you can know what you can do is to suck it and see. Not completing a run is not a failure, just an indicator of what your current limit is.

Start back where you left off, assuming you are fully recovered and build on the belief. Each run is training for the next one.

Oh sorry you've been ill, glad you're feeling better. Others will have better knowledge than me about whether to repeat but I think it depends on you and how you feel. You could give week5 R1 a try and if it's too hard, no harm in repeating week 4. There's no hard and fast rules about it. Do what suits you best as it doesn't matter how long it takes you to complete the programme, just keep making progress and you'll get there.

Agree wholeheartedly with bareliz. As old floss said last week I think it was, we don't have C25K police on here. There's no harm in trying and if it's too much be guided by your body. Best of luck with it.

I agree, I did have an enforced break and managed to go back where I left off. I went back with the attitude that if I didn't manage it, I would then go back to a run that was similar to what I had done but didn't need to. So start back where you left off and see how it goes.

Just try... a gentle jogette will soon let you know.

Don't push, just be kind to yourself and take it as slowly as you care too:) It will all come back gradually... I know... have just got off the IC three weeks ago... :)

Thanks guys, support much appreciated. I will give the wk5 r1 another go & see how I bare up! Most annoying getting ill when you're just feeling fitter than you have for a while. I don't want to get behind too much as it's a lot easier to lose fitness than build it up! I'll give it a whirl tomorrow & we'll see what happens! :)

I finally feel better! Not 100% but much better. Started where I left on wk 5 r1. Did it (slowly) so run 2 on Wednesday!
