Itchy skin

I started my first run today and did it, what surprised me most was that my skin itched, does anyone else get this and does it go away?? I really hope so as it drove me nuts. Just the running bit nearly killed me and this on top was awful, please someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Maybe a prickly heat kinda thing going on, when did it start? When you started sweating? Has it stopped?

I have no medical knowledge so I'd suggest asking your doc.

Well done for getting off the couch. That first run nearly killed me too. In fact I couldn't complete it on the first day.

I guess it must be prickly heat as it didn't start til near the end and stopped as soon as I finished running. It is really helpful to know that I'm not alone struggling to get started on this and it is possible to get past week 1 lol!

Humidity ? I remember this happening to my husband once in France.. very humid and he was itching all over... it did pass... :)

See how you go?

Hopefully it should go away as you go on working out..

Are you wearing cool clothing. Might be worth trying a proper running top that takes the sweat away from your skin? Don't have to be expensive. Places like tesco do them.

I used to get that - I think it was histamine release. It went away as I got fitter:

My husband used to get this when he was building up his fitness levels, his was down to the fact the blood pumping around his body gave him an itchy feeling. He said it used to feel like the veins were opening up a little ( not sure if that was fact) but he did say a cold compress used to stop the itchy feeling. He had one of those gel packs in the freezer that he used.

seems like it's a bodily response to a sudden introduction of proper exercise and will get better. will try the gel packs if it happens again, made me feel like I wanted to rip my skin off, yuk!

You're still alive to tell the tale 😃👍✔️

Run oh so very slowly and you'll live to jog another day 🙂
