I notice that there is lots of scope for pushing yourself that extra mile running-wise once you're done with all the podcasts; park runs, marathons, charity runs etc.

The most I could ever see myself doing once I feel fit enough is park run (not yet), but how many of you have or are planning to take part in marathons, charity runs or anything else, running-wise?

I love racing. Never thought I would but some cajoling from my colleagues led to signing up for my first race and the need to start C25K. After that first one I was hooked. It's a very neat feeling to be running with a large pack. There's nothing quite like it.

Longest I've done is 8 miles, and I'm hoping to be able to do a HM that I had originally planned for this year. But the 5k distance takes the cake. They're fast, lots of people sign up for them and it's all ability. We have lots of people walk ours. I imagine many Parkruns would be similar, but ours is so new that the numbers are small and it doesn't quite feel the same as a race since you might be running off on your own during a slow week.

I'm doing my first non Parkrun organised 5k on Clapham Common next Sunday, first bit of running bling and will follow with a well earned pub lunch :D

I don't have particular goals, beyond running 3x a week. However, I just keep running a bit further on my weekend runs and now I run 2 x 5k and this week 1 x 8k, and increasing. Don't know where I'm going, just know I'm headed there very slowly :)

Some runners thrive on the organised run and relish crowds and bling but there is a sizeable proportion of us who are perfectly happy to run alone, without all the hullabaloo. I tried one organised 10k race which confirmed that I am an antisocial curmudgeonly old bastard....... that's fine by me. I'll do my 10ks by myself.

I am on record here in stating that I will do a Half marathon at some point, a distance that I have not quite yet attained, and I will probably do that at a massed run, just to check that I am not becoming sociable and friendly in my old age.
