Now someone remind me why I thought this week was going to be easier than W5R3?
5:8:5 Jo Whiley tells me - "easy" - yeah right, easy, I mutter to myself sarcastically as I start off on my warm up walk on a dark & soggy August morning. No labradoodle man this morning, no Jack Russell man - they obviously didn't fancy the rain (very sensible).
I'm blaming it on the squats at boxercise last night but I'm back to the gasping moaning lead legged woman from a few weeks ago. Surely this should be easier than 20 minutes straight off from last week, right?? But I did get further than ever before. The farm track that I added a few weeks back to avoid the steep downhill section is now complete & I'm on to the bridleway that follows it. Bit of a longer walk home but I do like a circular route. Sad thing is that the ups were all in the run sections and the one nice downhill was at a walk - but it will all change nextime out I know. Wk5 R1 was my favourite- all the right bits fell at the right section of my route - even climbing through the fallen tree across the path fell right - I can honestly I enjoyed that one!!! If I could just recreate my form from that day........π€
Legacy from today is tingling legs courtesy of the rampant stinging nettles overhanging the footpath - they have been enjoying the rain obviously- its given them renewed vigour- ouch!!!! π€βοΈππ»ββοΈπ΅

Boxercise - I'm impressed. Even the bit of yoga I've been doing has bit the dust this last week. Yes I got a visit from the stinging nettles also today. Like you say they must like the rain. Sometimes it feels like slow progress but just think about how far we've come since starting week 1.
It's great isn't it? Even the rain and a sore knee didn't put me off - I've surprised myself with this - I've never been able to run - not even donkeys years ago at school. We will make it!!!! πππ»ββοΈπ΅
Having just read lots of similar posts about this run I'm hopeful for run 2........ I'll be back in a couple of days eating my words I sure!!! ππ΅
Good to hear - run 2 coming up tomorrow for me. Run 3 will be Monday - so two days rest. I was really anxious about the 20 minutes last week, but in the end it was OK, so trying not to get worked up about the 25 minutes - I'll just take it as it comes I think - as well as very slowly!!! I'm also a morning runner - lemon & ginger tea, running kit, banana, phone, out the door before I or anyone/thing else convinces me not to! Hoping the wild weather will have died down about by tomorrow as well! Good luck with R3 - let us know how it goes
Haha! Yes the wind didn't help. R3 for me on Sunday. As it's school hols my little one is bike riding as I run so I've no choice but to keep going in case I loose him ππ
Sounds like a good run. Stinging nettles seem to be rampant and strong this year. I was on a trail on Sunday stepping over those that I could and getting stung by those I couldn't on a narrow path. I was concentrating on my feet and just managed to avoid getting a face full of nettles that were growing through a bush and overhanging the trail.
That made me chuckle- thankfully I've only got them at knee height for now!!! It'll be brambles next.....I can see them advancing each time - but at least they have an upside - I can pick some blackberries on the way home! π΅
Hi, I'm due to run W7R1 tomorrow but certainly found W6R1 the hardest run ever! If you read the posts you'll see that it catches many many people out. So do t despair - you've done it!!
This one got me and I thought exactly the same I had done Week 5 Run 3 and Mr Smooth was all liquid velvet saying things like ' you got this' and no I didn't, it was bloody horrible. But I looked up one of the old polls years ago and guess what W6 came out as the most 'popular' worst week for the majority of us. Maybe there's a point when the breaks make you lose momentum...
Had the stingers a few weeks ago too. Didn't like them then they are the wasps of the plant world - just don't see the point of them. Glad you got further though. See you on the podium...
Hi Jancanrun - I'm told wk6r2 is better...? It's coming up tomorrow and I'm not looking till then!! Maybe got a bit over confident at the end of week 5 thinking "I got this" - no I haven't - more work required.......and coming up π€π³π΅
