Well I've signed up! And will start tomorrow. Will feel a bit of a prat. Hope I don't see anybody I know. Never run anywhere. Super unfit. Hey ho π
W1 r1: Well I've signed up! And will start... - Couch to 5K

Well done you for starting.. I found the hardest thing to do (Barr the running bit at first) was actually getting out there and being seen.. Honestly though once that 1st step out of the door is done it's all good π
Good luck..
I think most of us have felt the same BUT here I am now w5 and starting to feel like a runner
The feeling a bit of a prat bit wears off once you have done it a few times. I felt self conscious about walking in running gear but then realised there are loads of people round my way walking to the gym in their gym gear. No-one is looking at them or me.
Have a good run. You will not be unfit for much longer.
Most of us felt the same at the start but are now wearing really bright coloured gear and waving our arms around with " look at me" gestures, "I'm a runner!" π
Good luck for today. Run very, very slowly, stretch afterwards and then tell yourself how proud you are. You're about to change your life in so many ways π€
I felt exactly the same, which is why I got up (and still get up) at 5am to do my run. I don't see any body and it's great!
You got this!!! X
Dear Chicken - nothing remotely prattish about getting fit. You are doing this for yourself, no-one else. Go run!
I hope you got out and I hope you did run, ( or are going to) and I hope if you saw anyone, you put a big smile on your face.
You should have, because you are out there and doing it!!! Prepare to say Goodbye to Unfit and Hello to fitter!
Slow and steady, listen to your body, even when it grumbles at you.... do NOT listen to the pesky mind Gremlins, take your rest days and enjoy!!!
Keep posting because there is great support on here as we all travel your running journey with you!
PS
You will not look like a prat,, you will look like a Runner!
Well done you! The fear of "being seen" has been felt by most of us here, and it takes a while to "own" your new running self. If you do see anyone you know, don't presume that they are judging you - I don't think that you judge everyone you see in trainers, so why should they? The only person who knows that you are starting out on this journey is you And if anyone says anything negative, then this time next year you can either still be in the same place while you worry about the opinion of others, or you can be fitter and happier - I know which one I'd prefer. Go for it. And report back to us afterwards!
