Well I had a plan to be running 5k by the time I turned 50 and I am doing it 3 times a week now! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸƒπŸ»πŸƒπŸ»πŸƒπŸ»Today is my 50th and I am so grateful to your encouraging voices. This is such a supportive group. I've never seen anything like it before. I really would have probably given up otherwise. Onwards and upwards now! πŸ˜ƒ

Brilliant brilliant! Happy birthday! I took up running as I approached my fiftieth...no regrets at all (despite spell on IC recentlyπŸ™) Loved it so much I did my first half marathon before my 52nd birthday.... so you never know what lies ahead! Good luck and enjoy!!

Happy Birthday! Well done! My approaching 50th spurred me to work on health - I worked on yoga and walking first, but at 54 I'm now running 30 minutes very comfortably and working up to 5K.

Thank you very much Damien. The larger goal was to be around and active for when our kids are older (they are 10 and 13 now), so I'm trying to make it stick πŸ˜€

Congratulations on your 50th! What a great achievement & present to have given yourself. Your growing children will appreciate all the active things you do with them & so will your grandchildren - eventually!! Keep running😊

Decker in reply to Slinkymalinki

Thank you Slinky! Yes, our kids are still relatively young (10 and 13) so part of this is definitely to try and be around for them later in life 😊

Happy Birthday and welcome to the 50's club! Many of us seem to have taken this up in the run up to our 50th, me included. I'm now half way through B2 10K. Never thought I'd get this far! The family are all amazed I've stuck at it. My advise is keep it slow and steady, take the highs and lows as par for the course and try to find a local Parkrun.

Thank you ladyharvills. Yes I am amazed I am still at it too! Your path is an inspiration and my eventual goal is a weekly 10K but for now I am very happy with tweaking my 5ks πŸ˜€ slow and steady as you say. I am in Canada and the nearest Park runs here are around an hours drive away, so I'm local for the moment. Going to do a charity fun run in August though, with other people πŸ˜€
