Sore thighs

Hi all, just need a bit of advice, I did my first run on Friday, I plan to do my next one later today, my thighs are aching and quite tender, I presume that this is normal and I should carry on and expect some pain.

Sounds like perfectly normal DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

Whether you run with it or not depends on how much it hurts. If it's a bit achy and uncomfortable but you can still run normally then you'll be fine. If it's actual genuine pain or you can't run without significant pain, then you need to rest.

Thanks

The basic rule is: ache is OK, hurt isn't. As you've already been told here, if your thighs really hurt you should probably take an extra day's rest ... but if you do take more rest then get back into the programme as soon as you feel able to do it. My thighs ache today after a run yesterday, today's a rest day, I'll go for a run again tomorrow because they don't hurt they just ache.

Hidden let us know how you get on .... REMEMBER SLOW, then slower still. As long as it's a running action then that's fine.
