Hi. Just found the app, been using the podcast so far. Really enjoying the challenge having not run for 20+ years and been advised to lose weight. Hoping to keep motivated throughout and then plan to do a few Park runs
W3d1: Hi. Just found the app, been using the... - Couch to 5K
W3d1
Brilliant thing to do. I've just graduated and plan my first Park run next Saturday. Just bear in mind that the programme probably won't give you much weight loss unless you combine it with a sensible eating plan. Exercise alone rarely works for weight loss partly because people tend to eat more because they have just exercised.
Good luck and enjoy.
Thanks
Good plan!
SCB is spot on - have just started W4 and thought I'd get on the scales to wow myself with all the benefits of that running. Slightly forgot the additional 'healthy' flapjacks also being consumed...., needless to say absolutely no change. So Week 4s program goes walk, run, walk, run, walk, run walk - do not eat a flapjack as part of cool down....
Thanks. Ill bear that in mind! Have cut down on sugar and "naughty" snacks. So fingers crossed adding in exercise will show some results.
Don't forget to measure yourself. While it's true that early c25k probably won't help in the weight loss stakes, you will tone up and inches will go.
Usually good weight loss comes when you get to the longer, slow runs later on, and of course, after graduation, combined with a good eating plan. Sounds like you're off to a good start on that.
You will not be burning too many calories in the early days so resist the temptation to reward yourself for your run.
Measuring or seeing how your clothes fit is a good way to view your losses. Exercise can seem to stop your weight going down as muscles take on extra water to help with repair processes, so when that happens you will not appear to be losing - don't get despondent if that happens just keep on keeping on 😀 And all will be well.
Good luck with c25k and your weight loss.
Hi, I'm a fan of the Parkrun so I say no need to wait til you graduate to get going. Mr Wizzie ran W3 r3 at our local Parkrun yesterday, once he'd finished the podcast he walked the rest and he certainly wasn't last! Go for it!
Good luck and happy running!
