W8R3 πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰ completed - but πŸ˜”

I hurt my calf muscle last Friday to the point I couldn't finish W8R3 and was really upset. I rested it, took Ibuprofen and used an ice pack for a week. Someone on this forum advised me not to run until I could walk pain free - so I went out to retry W8R3. I could feel my injury but it wasn't paining and I was comfortable when running BUT once I got home the pain is back like it was last week πŸ˜”. I think I know the answer but please advise me what I need to do - thank you.

When I did a similar thing, my doctor warned me that it would get worse for 3 days (it did) and get better over 3 weeks (it did, to the day). I didn't run during that time. Too painful.

Mind did get worse and then better but because it wasn't paining I stupidly thought it was ok. Think I'll be out for longer now. Thank you for your advice.

Stop running!

I had a calf injury four weeks back... I did everything right.. but know now I started back to soon... it reoccurred, so twelve days rest..did two short gentle runs.. third run.. it went again! I had to see a Sports Physio, this week, and I know now the original pain was a slight tear, I am now on the IC for another 10 days... until I see him next.

I am not a GP but, I would advise being really sure it is feeling better...not saying this to worry you, but I have always given the advice listen to your body...I did listen, but not carefully enough! :)

Maybe check with your GP or, do as I did, took the advice of some of my forum Graduate friends and saw a Sports Physio.. it isn't cheap but so worth it!!! I am taking it very slowly, swimming and walking, but no running!!!

keep us posted ?

Thank you Oldfloss I realised when I got home I had started back too soon πŸ˜”. Unfortunately I can't afford a Sports Physio so will take the forums advice and guidance- Thank you. I'll keep you posted.

You could try through your GP... ? A roller will help if it is not a tear, but just knotted muscles :)
