to my 60th birthday and have just completed the first run for week 4. It was so hard but I'm feeling great now! I find it a bit frustrating that 2 years ago I was running 5k three time a week having built up from nothing and after losing 4 stone. Some of the weight (2 stone)has crept back on but I've now got my head back in it and am determined - it's just hard work!! Looking for encouragement!!

Hi i could be your twin😂 I graduated last October & i was running 5k several times dealing with wee hills!!! & then i fell in black ice fortunately only a few bruises but my knee & hip played up & i just got out the way of it! Lost a stone & a half but struggling to get any more so decided to get back to running as i tend to eat healthier then!! O dear so hard getting back into it but last night i managed week5 run 3 & chuffed as continued walking & running till i got to 4k!! Then went a walk for 5.5 k! Shin was a bit sore but fortunately all ok today😊 so we need to keep each other going & it has been really hard motivating myself but im 60 end of july & really want to be able to do 5k by my birthday & then get the courage to go to a parkrun!!! A lot to be said that our mindset is so important so we must remind ourselves to trust the program & we did it before & can do it again!! Good luck & il look out for you😊👍Phyllis 😊
Thanks for your reply! We must be twins! I'm really determined at the moment but there are so many hills round here. In some ways it helps because I keep my mind busy working out how I can coincide my walks my time with the uphills!! It doesn't always help but mind games are my way of keeping going. Onward and upwards!
O we are so alike i plan my routes to correspond to where the hills are or how to avoid them😂😂but i now know hills help build stamina so will get round to the challenge again soon but aiming for 5k first😊
