Went out for my week 9 run 2 last night and decided I didn't have to run too much faster to make a 5k in 30 mins, so off I went faster than before, I made it to the half way point by 15 mins π then came a relatively small hill and I just couldn't make it up it, complete jelly legs. So started walking. So annoyed at myself, I should have paced myself and just tried for my 30 mins but no I had to run faster and tire myself out. I'm going to try again on Saturday and just aim for the 30 mins.

Yeah very tempting when you are in week 9, I set off on a run in week 9 and although I wasn't watching the clock I found after one kilometre that I was only 3 or 4 seconds off the pace of a 30 minute 5k, it took me about another one and a half kilometres to can that idea, if I hadn't i would have had to walk the second half. But it just shows you can't force times, they will come, and its more enjoyable if you are not out of breath when you do it.
Lesson learned but don't be disheartened you are nearly there just rest up and slow it down just a bit. I remember one of the runs before I graduated I took so much out of myself I nearly threw up but took it on board and the final run was a breeze.
Every run is training for the next one..............learn lessons, take positives, move on.
Just get the 30 minutes under your belt this week, then work on speed (if that's what you want) once you have graduated.
Thanks everyone, I just pushed myself too far this time, I will definitely just be sticking to 30 mins. I've got a 5k in 3 weeks time and I think that's why I was trying to push myself, but just overdid it.
You don't have to make 5k in 30 mins in the programme just the 30 mins, you'll improve as you go on..
