Slow on my posts due to being out of State and out of my familiar environment and routine.
Ran a mile and a half on Wednesday June 21st at an increased pace, trying to pace myself at an effort level where I could finish, and I hit a new PB of 10:29/mi! Then on Saturday I carried some boxes up a steep walk way. Later when I was stretching glutes standing up, I felt a pop and my back is now pretty messed up. I'm crooked! I went ahead and ran the next day, Sunday June 25th and did 3 miles. I hit a PB of 2:13 for 400 meters in that run. Been resting and healing since then.
Today, Thursday June 29th, I am supposed to go with my Fiance' for her first 5k training run.
We both bought new running shoes yesterday. I tried on Saucony, New Balance and ASICS. ASICS Won. ASICS Gel-Cumulus 19 - Also, I am now fitted with an insert to stabilize things with regard to over-pronation. I liked the bit of extra cushion under the balls of my feet in this shoe, since at about 5 miles that's where I hurt. Also bought some things for muscles; a stick with fluted balls on it, something for the bottom of the foot for plantar relief and one other thingy you can see there in the photo.
The back thing has me concerned. I hope it's not too serious. I am in another State and my medical is no good out of State. I am imbalanced muscularly due to some spasming and compensation issues, and unstable unless posture is upright. I'll see how it goes as I accompany my spouse today on level crushed gravel for her first session of C25K.
I am looking forward to some active recovery days where I accompany her in between my running days. AND . . . . I can't wait to get running in these new shoes!!
