Week 4 still hard

I'm on week 4 done run 1. This isn't getting easier. My legs are killing me when I run. It's sheer will power that gets me through but I'm worried I won't have enough will to last 9 weeks!

As i see it you have enough will-power otherwise you would have already quit.

You are doing great! Keep at it runner!

Thanks! These forums are good. I've been reading them for the last four weeks and decided it was time to participate more actively. The encouragement helps!

It really does help to post, it will increase your will power and determination! Willpower is all you need to get out there and do the programme, and the programme will do the rest :)

For me, at some point around the end of week four it started to get easier - note, I say easier not EASY!!!! As the periods of time you run great greater I found that my body was no longer my enemy - it was my mind, specifically boredom as I got used to my running playlist and the same routes!!!!! Another thing that helped me - not watching the clock. I didn't use the app at first but I started to around week 5. As a result, I trusted Michael Johnson to give me time checks and stopped the constant glancing at my Garmin. That helped a lot too! If you're still finding it tough, try going slower too. You can focus on getting faster once you've completed the programme. One other thing that has really helped me is some strength training on my legs. I also do two spinning classes a week and this has made my legs noticeably stronger and helped my running - you can do spinning on your rest days too! Good luck - you have the willpower so I know you'll get to graduate!
