I do the 5k race for life on the 8th July. Unfortunately I'm a little bit behind schedule as I was away Mon to Thurs this week, so only managed to get my first run in this morn. Do you think I should run Sat and Sun to get my 3 runs in or just do 1 on Sun? I really need to start running longer

Stick with the programme and definitely take your rest days!
5k events attract runners, run/walkers and walkers. So be prepared to run/walk. It is not a problem and will be great fun!
If you track to include your 5 min warm up and warm down walks you will find you are not so far off 5 k.
Have fun, enjoy!

Do the next run on Sunday, don't do back to back runs! Always have your rest day, and you don't have to treat the race for life as an actual race, just do the best you can comfortably, walk some if you have to..
