First run and first post. Not strictly my first run, I tried a few weeks ago and failed. Thought it through this time, read a lot of posts on here, got some new running shoes, found a nice flat place to run and best of all slowed it right down. I did it! I felt ok and quite optimistic afterwards. I'm nearly 64 and if I don't do it now I never will. It's probably about 30 years since I ran but have started now and am going to give it a good go 😊

Welcome KG!

Let's get one thing straight - about your run a few weeks ago - that was *not* a fail.

We'd call it an 'experimental' run: you were testing out some ideas, gaining an insight for a next run, "just running in some kit", out for some fresh air. Anything. But not a fail.

What that run did achieve was to prepare you for today's run, which you accomplished with aplomb. "Sure as eggs is eggs, mantle with aplomb". (The Fast Show, anyone???).

On to W1r2 after a day's rest... let us all know how it goes.

Well done and welcome to this amazing forum. Just follow the programme and take it really slowly. Post regularly on here and you will get lots of support.

Every run is training for the next one, so whatever the outcome you will learn something and your body will be more used to exercise than it was before the run. We don't use the F word on this forum.

Take it slow and steady and you can transform your life. It is never too late.
