C25K with a 10 year old?

GoodGriefImRunning profile image

I'm biting the bullet and finally doing something about my shocking level of fitness. My 10 year old daughter (average fitness) wants to do it with me, is there any reason why she shouldn't? Has anyone else got experience of completing the programme with children?

It has been done many times. Be prepared to be left behind.

I was marshalling at parkrun yesterday and love watching the families running together. What a wonderful gift to your children.

Do it.

Thank you, she's just as keen as I am. We're starting next weekend and have already chosen a few scenic routes. Can't wait to get going.

Lots of folk on here ... and IannodaTruffe is right.. they usually run rings around us...:)

.... just a note though.. ( I am not sure on this, ...,) but I think I remember a post about it.. I don't think they can be awarded the Graduate badge...it is an age thing ??

One of the administrators can advise on this .. maybe poppypug , ju-ju- or Realfoodieclub :)

Good luck anyway... :)

Yes @oldfloss is right, you have to be over 16 to get a graduation badge, that is because of the age restrictions on the forum. but I am more than happy to make a post just for a young graduate so they can see their name and if you give me a couple of days I will do a personal certificate that they can download with their name on as I think it is important that we encourage young runners.

Thank you she will love that, I'll be in contact at the end of the programme!

Lots of under 10s run with their parents at our local Parkrun - and some of those little 'uns can fly!!!!

Morning !

Really Well done on your progress so far . As above , there is a strict age restriction on here .

It is really great for you and your Grand daughter to run together and she should be encouraged. so the suggestion from Realfoodieclub sounds ideal :-)

Good Luck to you both ! :-) xxx
