As I said previously, I wondered what I would do once I graduated, which I did on Saturday at a Parkrun (really like them).
Today was the day. Downloaded a SmartPhone app and set it to record my running and let me know as each kilometre was reached. Lots of parameters as well, time, distance, speed, split times, looked terrific.
Then set up a running playlist on the aforementioned Smartphone.
Finally defined a local run of 4kish that was away from main roads so I could take one of the dogs. Oooops, it's pouring but I have to go . . . .
The results:
The Lurcher couldn't work out why I was talking her out without her Greyhound companion. The Idiotphone stopped speaking to me after 1K. The music stopped playing on the Idiotphone after about 20 minutes. When I got back to my car after 35 - 40 minutes, the Idiotphone confidently told me I had run 2km in 14 minutes, didn't tell me where the rest of the time had gone.
Conclusion: The highs and lows are an integral part of running and they will continue. But the fact that I am sitting here smiling, cup of tea at hand with the Lurcher curled up, snugged into me and asleep tells me there will be many more of these to come.
Those of you on the programme have all these joys to come, I wish you the very best.
