Started today. I am 48 years old and I had no idea how hard running only a minute would be.. glad to have made a start but right now 5k in 30 minutes seems almost an impossibility

Yep, I remember feeling exactly the same. I'm 42 and was never 'a runner'. Now, a couple of months later I'm about to go for an 'easy 20mins' to ease an injury.

One run at a time, trust the programme and the first one is a huge hurdle to get over, so well done ✅

Two newbies will make it. Let's keep each other motivated. I will try my next one on Tuesday. I will restart with Day 1 of week 1.

Follow the program and you will do it! I was 49 when I started, 2 years later still running 👍

This sounds like cry for reassurance. You are correct, learning to run is hard, but you have done the hardest part and made the effort to start. C25K is brilliantly structured to enable gentle progress at whatever pace suits you. If you cannot complete a run then repeat it until successful, then move on. You are not required to run at any particular pace or for a specific distance. Duration is all that is required and as that builds, so will your stamina.

You are nearly 10 years younger than I was when I completed C25K and now I run at least one 10k each week and a couple of 5ks and am fitter than ever in my life.

Stick with it. Keep posting and you will do it.

Firstly, don't worry about 5k in 30 mins, majority of people do not achieve this. Have a lot at Irish-John's most recent post for the stats.

Well done for starting, practically everyone thinks those first minutes are a struggle but have faith in the programme and you'll be amazed at the progress you make.

Keep it slow, there's no hurry, it's about how long you run not how far. Always take your rest days and remember you're doing this for you, it's not a competition.

... and keep reading and posting on this forum, there's terrific support here, it certainly got me through the weeks of the programme and I still read the latest posts every day.

You can do this ... If I did it (I'm 59yrs) you can. Go Lastlight Go!

Please don't get bogged down with time, very few people graduate doing a 5k in 30 minutes- I certainly didn't!! Take it slowly and follow the programme as directed and you will make it. Well done 😎

Forget 30 minutes and 5K...just carry on and the mantra on this forum is slow and steady... all the way..:)

Check out Irish-John 's post on 5K.... the idea is, that the programme gets you to running for 30 minutes.. injury free and having enjoyed your journey.

It has been said many times on here, that the name C25K is a bit of a misnomer.. but Couch to 30 minutes run, was not very catchy! Many, many, many of the Graduates, some of them half -marathon and marathon runners now, have never, ever run 5K in 30 minutes... :)

All of them will give you the same advice... take it slowly.:)

You run this journey in your own way..take your rest days, do other exercises on those days too.. to build up stamina and strength...The time for distance and even speed, comes after Graduation.

I am still here, the Original Grey Snail, two and a half years after graduating, still running three times a week and still loving it.

Do this your way...but keep it slow :)

" Fast enough to get there, but slow enough to see "

Well done for getting out there! I am 42 and started this programme only 2 weeks ago. I couldn't run more than 45 seconds without struggling!

Completed W3R1 today and ran 3 minutes at a time and felt I could do more (but didn't !)

Slow and steady is the key and follow the programme, so I'm told !

I've really found the support i get on this forum has helped me. I haven't wanted to post on Facebook etc that I'm doing this but it's lovely to receive advice and a few encouraging words here and there from the members on this page. So congratulations x

Thank you I think I probably set off too fast at first so that as I got towards the end of the run I was exhausted! Definitely going to try a steadier pace next time!

Yes I am a recent graduate and just completed my first park run 35 mins 33 secs

Thought I was going to be found collapsed in a Ditch part way through week 1 run 1 so keep going

I can't say I found each week easy but follow the programme - it works

Remember slow and slower and listen to us cheering keep going

I found the second session felt easier. First is a shock and I had no idea what to expect. Good luck and keep us updated.

Remember to post on here if you are feeling low, feeling high, disappointed or pleased with yourself. These guys are awesome with the motivation and advice.

Never look too far ahead, just take each week as it is. If you repeat a week it doesn't matter and take it slow. You can do it.

Well done. I started at Easter and have just done Week3R2, ( have repeated a few days and Week2) but have to say it's a great feeling to progress and was actually looking forward to my weekend run. I never thought I would say that. Good luck

Well done for getting started Lastlight! I'm 46 & didn't think I'd make it through the first run in Feb but just graduated & happily running for 30 mins - about 4K. Trust in the plan and feel proud of yourself every time you get out and run! 🙂

Well I have got wk 1 R 3. tomorrow which should be interesting as I will have to run in the evening and I've not done that before after a day at work and then I hope to start week two on Sunday. I am finding this forum helpful and interesting.

Keep going I am sure some runs are going to be harder than others it probably depends on lots of different factors hopefully will find your next one a little easier 👍
