So Maybe I Can Afterall....

I went to a Parkrun on Saturday, and lost my nerve. I did 3 out of the 4 laps, and seeing that Everyone Else was done a full lap before me, didn't want to make everyone wait another 10 minutes while I finished. I bottled it. Not that they weren't all lovely and encouraging - they were all great - it was all me.

Then - I moped. I've been moping since Saturday. This morning I went to the gym - using my new wireless earbuds (!!) - and decided to do Stepping Stones. Tricky on the treadmill, but not impossible - oh, and I read some place on here that an incline is a good idea on a treadmill - starting with a little one of 0.5 (still an incline!), and.....

I beat my PB!! including the warms up & down, 39:25 minutes and did exactly 5km!!

I'm back - next weekend, I'm going to do the Parkrun again - and complete it no matter what. I'll use the Stepping Stones podcast to accompany me!

The moral of the story: Don't Give Up. Really. Don't.

x

Great stuff! Well done 😃 stepping stones are a bit weird but in a good way. The slow, slow, slower, quick, quick, slow keeps your legs guessing

I absolutely agree, DON'T GIVE UP! I've done two Parkruns now, mostly walked them, my PB is over 50 minutes, everybody is very patient, very encouraging and lots of people stay at the end to cheer in the tail enders like me. Parkrun's a great experience and if that's your PB then you're positively flying in my book!! I can't do this weekend but the following weekend it's my birthday on the Sunday so the Parkrun on that Saturday is my birthday treat to myself ...

Who'da thunk we'd ever see something like a Parkrun as a birthday treat!! Happy

Birthday to You - a little early - but that's celebrating in style, I'd say! x
