Well done for graduating, I hope you have asked for your badge!!!!
& YES! Lots of people have the same thing.
Remember that you are now jogging 30 minutes, as opposed to 0 minutes. C25K builds our strength and endurance and it takes time for our body to get faster too. Something to aim for is the 5k in 30 mins, don't forget to move the treadmill a bit fast each week to push yourself.
Absolutely! It took me a couple of months after graduating to get to the magic 5k in 30 on the treadmill, and I still can't do that outdoors. I'm keeping on going though - I'll get there one day. And even if I don't, I'm still running!
Really the programme should be called "couch to 30 mins" - many, many people don't manage 5k in 30 mins. I do just over 4km. Some days I'm able to run for longer and do the full 5k, some days I'm pushing it to get to the 30 mins! I graduated a little less than a month ago, so there's still lots of room for improvement
I graduated nearly a year ago and regularly run 5 miles, but I still can't run 5k in 30 minutes. Mind you, it's not something i train to do, I'd rather do distance than speed, but bottom line, you're off the couch and running. it really doesn't matter how fast!
Hi - I have bee running for over a year now and still cant do 5K in 30 or less - typically 33 - 34 mins. Distance is not important really, from a fitness perspective you may be better off gradually increasing the time you run for than trying to improve pace and distance......
I still can't manage to run 5K in 30' either but we're definitely not alone on this. I'm currently working on improving my speed with the C25K+ podcasts and it's working great. I love having goals to reach, so I'm fine with this and enjoy all my runs!
Hi - thanks very much for posting this, and to everyone who has replied: you have all really cheered me up, as it's definitely been more a case of Couch to 30 minutes for me! I run about 3.4 km in 30 minutes, every single time. I'm not sure whether now to aim to run a longer distance at the same speed, taking longer -- or to speed up to try to get more distance into my 30 minutes. What do you think?
Hi i also used the treadmill at the gym, I am into one month since I have joined the gym, I have pushed myself on numerous occasion and everyday I tried to go up 1level.
Today I did the 5k run in 41 . 5 mins, at a space of 7.3. I found it easy to alternate the level when running to 8.0 and walking at 6. 6. I felt good when I finished my 5k.,, eventhough I did it inside on a treadmill, the only downside was the pain in my legs and my ankle was excruciated.
So am I a graduate now. Might try to push myself a bit harder before Christmas.
