Stats for first outdoor

I think I ran 8 minutes at first before I stalled on hill number 2. Where the heck is flat in this darn city!? Haha I loved it and welcome all tips in future. Not gonna stop. Even if it sets me back on the plan.

Did that time include your warm up and cool down walks?

Warm up yes but my cool down I admit I fell in my car after the final split. Literally haha. There were so many walking phases that I just forgot about the plan by that point and concentrated on moving for 30 minutes. It was so hard I can't begin to stress.

Fine... falling is good..in the car!

But I would say, (yes, you know it), just slow down a tad... I know I am an old worrier, but have seen so many folk end up on the IC, just in the two and half years I have been doing this :)

Week 6 finishes with the 25 minute run.. and the idea is to finish with something left in the tank... always, in our runs, as they get longer, trying to have just a bit left for a final whatever.. :) As Laura says on the podcasts, "...to finish in style..." not in a state of collapse...

Just go steady, enjoy yes, but build up to that 30 minutes and the 5K if you can do it , comfortably, and injury free, by Week 9.

I was the Original Grey Snail.. not any more, but I am still here, in one piece..three times a week, up to 10K.. so far... and have always followed the slow and steady advice.

Thanks indeed but I can't help wonder if it's worth starting from week 1 for outdoors or finishing my plan indoors and go to outdoors after. I don't feel like I'm on week 6 outdoors at all. Somewhere around week 3 perhaps.

Well, I think you are well on the way..it seems that you will be fine once you get used to it... :)

Just start Week 7 and keep it steady.. ( dogs can be a pain..literally,or rather their owners.. just ask Irish-John ...:) I am lucky, I seem to just get startled by pheasants! :)

Do you feel like that because of your pace? Sounds like you're doing fine but maybe just need to slow it down so you're not totally exhausting yourself.

Well done on embracing the outside :D I found that when I started running there were hills and inclines where previously I thought it was flat lol. But just taking them steady. When I come to a big hill I try and slow my pace a little on the approach and maintain that as I go up. Once at the top I can pick it up a little again. I'm finding now that each time the struggle is a little 'easier' but still got a way to go before I'm really comfortable with it.

The outside is lovely and naturally makes your run varied. Enjoy and Good luck.

Loved being out there. I think my main issue is my breathing and lungs. I was panting even though my body felt ok. I do need to work on that pace.

Stay outside and slow down. Do the warm up and cool down. You need a walk post run to help stretch you out. That could be another lap of the park or finishing further away from home and walking back

If you are completely bushed I think you must slow things down

I definetly did 5 mins walk pre. I just pretty sure the incline done me.
