20 minutes in the bag

I can't believe it but I've just completed week 5!!!! I've been daunted about W5R3 since week 1, but this proves that the programme really does work. The only thing is though, now I've completed the dreaded W5R3... there's more hard work to come! I hope I can keep up the momentum and motivation.

That first 20 minute run feels good doesn't it? As for maintaining the momentum - of course you can! You've said yourself, the programme works! Stay mentally strong in Week 6 though, as the return to intervals catches some out. Don't let it mess with your head - you can do it!🙂

It certainly does feel good! I can't believe what I've achieved so far to be honest. I've read about week 6 and will watch for the 'head games' thank you. We newbies are really lucky as there is so much history of the previous trials and tribulations and ultimate successes on this site that we can tap into week by week and learn from, as well as the current shared experiences ... and its great that you grads are still here to cheer us on :)

Congratulations! You CAN do this, you ARE doing this. Trust the plan and your body - don't stress about what comes next, you are ready for it (talking from a position of needing a kick up the bottom this week to move on from the 'comfort' of week 7).

You have done brilliantly to do W5r3, just take each run at a time x

You're right Devonwalker. I am prone to 'overthinking' so will just enjoy today's success and worry about the next step another time!

W5R3 is brilliant - once you have it completed! If only you could bottle that feeling and keep it... Just remember how good it feels any time you might struggle in the future. You did it, despite all your reservations and if you have managed that run, you can do anything!

Yay ! Well done ! I LOVED this run . I felt like I'd won the FA Cup , The Grand National , The Boat race all rolled into one ! :-)

Yup , it is a great feeling , a major milestone in the programme , and I think after this I really started to believe I could go on and complete the programme .

Keep going , you're doing great ! :-) xxx

Hi Runlike, congratulations on completing Wk 5, Run 3! I did it today too and am amazed that I could keep going for that long - albeit on a treadmill and v hot and sweaty. What I like best about it is the feeling of calm that I have afterwards, that seems to last all day. Good luck, Lynnie.

Woohoo!! Congratulations Lizzi59 :) !! I'm also on a treadmill at the moment. When (if!) I manage to finish the programme I'm thinking that I might use the incline interval training to get me more used to outside conditions or may be go back to week 6 and just run outside... decisions decisions. I might ask the forum for advice ... when I get there!

Hello Runlike, congrats to you too. I haven't done any running outside yet but am contemplating trying week 6, run 1, in the local park on Sunday morning - v early so hopefully I won't see anyone I know! Running outside feels like a real challenge too.

I'm STILL not over the high of doing that run (a year ago). I think I may never be... :)

Is week 5 run 3 different from the other runs in week 5 then? So far, all the runs in a week have been the same for me. I'm confused! LOL

Here you are Minxygirl. Week five.

There are three different workouts for this week, which are:

Workout one: a brisk five-minute walk, then five minutes of running, three minutes of walking, five minutes of running, three minutes of walking and five minutes of running.

Workout two: a brisk five-minute walk, then eight minutes of running, five minutes of walking and eight minutes of running.

Workout three: a brisk five-minute walk, then 20 minutes of running, with no walking.

Not what you're looking for?
