20 minutes of running under my belt!

I just completed 20 minutes running in w5r3 without dying! I really enjoyed it - lovely fresh evening after the rain and I got into a rhythm ( a first for me). I was even able to admire the woodland and the horses. Roll on week 6.

It's a great week as you really feel you make progress. I really enjoyed the longer runs which is amazing. I hope you do too

Call it a landmark or a milestone or absolutely amazing, I am sure you are on a high having achieved twenty minutes continuous running. I know I was. From here on C25k builds your stamina so that in a few weeks time, running for twenty minutes will seem like child's play. The same rules apply; run with an easy pace with something in reserve which you can pull out of the bag in the last kilometre or so. This is so much easier, both physically and psychologically, than going off too fast and really having to force yourself to finish the run. I did the latter too many times and while it may have helped stamina, it meant that I didn't enjoy the running as much as I do now when I allow myself a bit more time.

Well done so far, good luck for the longer runs and keep us posted.

Thank you for the encouragement. I am most definitely not going fast, let alone too fast. But slow and steady is working for me.

It's great you enjoyed it and sounds like you have really caught the bug. I am just about to finish week 6 so this last run is 25 minutes. Exciting eh? I know I can do it if I keep a slow and steady pace. Not much chance of doing much else to be honest :)

Keep up in the loop about how you are doing, and good luck with week 6 runs too!

Well done - that's probably the biggest milestone of the whole programme and it feels really good to have achieved it!

Me too, you and I were pretty much running w5r3 together by my calculations! I'm not sure I could say I enjoyed it, and I've been so scared before each run that I've had butterflies... but what a feeling to have achieved that today!!! We can do it!!!

Well done!! You should be really proud of yourself! I'm in week 6 (just back from run 2) and so far nothing has topped the sense of achievement from week 5 run 3, but I'm sure once I complete 25 mins that will change. I actually now prefer the longer stretches of running rather than the stopping and starting, as you can - like you said - find your rhythm. Keep up the good work! :)
