Third time I have been out running but decided to use stop watch... actually did the full 25 minutes (including walk etc) a few moments of negativity but kept going... now recuperating in the garden with a coffee and inhaler (just in case)... happy running everyone! Hope I keep this up!!
Officially started!?: Third time I have been out... - Couch to 5K
Officially started!?
Well done, third run!
Just carry on and follow the programme, making sure you take your rest days, they are so important. Other exercises on your rest days are helpful too...swimming, cycling, walking whatever
This C25K programme is so structured, that if you follow it, week by week, slowly and steadily, you should get to Graduation injury free and having had fun.
Keep on posting all your successes and set backs...the forum is full of friends at all stages of the running and they will give advice and tips, great motivation and support.
As ever, try and listen to your body, and don't be tempted to push too hard, we have quite a few folk who go try to go too fast too soon and usually end up on the IC! Even our seasoned and really experienced graduates are advocates of slow and steady! It works; it got me to 10K eventually
So, onward and upward... looking forward to Week 2 ???
Well I am visiting mum in the north east and worried there will be nowhere discrete for me to run so was trying to think of alternatives ... do you think I should just go for it!? I am tempted to do another week 1 run though to be sure as today was a struggle getting to 60 seconds lol
Lovely to go and see Mum! My daughter did her Masters at Newcastle University! We loved visiting her!
Just go for it But... take it as slow as you like.. the slower the better at this time.
I would not repeat the run... just slow it down.. honestly, I was the original Grey Snail Move onwards gently, enjoy the run and relax into it.
Does your Mum have an idea of paths or parks where you could run.. the other alternative is your early runs before places get too busy?
Just go for it. I really struggled with the Week 1 run... for me, none of the others were so difficult (not easy but...). The programme works. Doing extra runs when you've already done the consolidation because it is built into the programme is not a waste of time, because it is all fitness and there's no rush - but it is perhaps giving too much credence to the Demons of Doubt.
Well done on taking those first really tiring steps ! I would suggest that not many of us who have started the C25K have found those first 60 seconds of running easy, in any way, shape or form. Trust the programme and yourself, and you will do it. Go for a run while you're up seeing your Mum.....go on...xx
Don't worry nobody knows you
I would be more concerned about finding somewhere fairly flat!!
