I’m on week 4 run 3 and thinking of doing a park run in Swansea how far were you all before doing a park run
Park run : I’m on week 4 run 3 and thinking of... - Couch to 5K
Park run
Did mine after W5. Everyone goes at their own pace and a run not a race. 👍
People go along to parkrun at all stages of C25K, but we recommend that you stick to the programmed run and walk the rest. Attempting to run 5k before you are ready will hugely increasing your injury risk. That said, you will still set a time for 5k which you can chip away at as you run more.
Parkrun brings out the competitive edge in many people, especially when they are being overtaken by small children and those who are much older than you.............they have been running longer than you and you must not try to compete.
The only person you are competing against is yourself, so if you take it easy on the early ones, build up your stamina and strength, then you will have PBs week after week.
Have a great time.
IannodaTruffe has said it all
Swansea is a fab parkrun, all flat and finishes on the seafront....as has already been said, it’s fine to use parkrun as one of your runs, including the warm up walk.....
There will be a first timers briefing for all newcomers/visitors, and don’t forget your barcode!
Above all, enjoy!

Thanks are they on over Christmas might do the Saturday after Christmas
Check with your local park run, ours is even doing one Christmas Day. Good luck it’s a great community
Yes, they run every Saturday, without fail - unless there is a significant reason not to - e.g our local one cancelled after high winds and trees came down in the park it’s held in.
There is a ‘Christmas compendium’ on the parkrun uk website - this lists all the parkruns and what they have declared for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day - it’s possible to do a ‘double’ on New Year’s Day if you have some local to you running at 9.00 and 10.30.....🏃♀️💪
It’s a great way to start Christmas and get the new year off to a healthy start!

You could walk the whole of parkrun if you wanted to, so it’s entirely up to you when you do your first. That’s the beauty of it, you get all sorts - elite athletes going for it in 16 minutes or less, people who take over an hour, people pushing buggies, people running with their dogs (hello, me! 🙋♀️) and everything in between! 🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️🏃
So go along when you feel ready and have a blast. You could combine it with your C25K runs easily. Have fun! 😀👍
I did Swansea parkrun a few weeks ago when I was on wk5. Go for it you will love it. Try not to get carried away with the fact people are overtaking you. Stick to your own pace
I waited until w9r3 to use as my graduation finale.
I waited until after I graduated. I have to say it is a fabulous fun event, if you like people. But you must not try to go faster than the programme, so run it with the C25K app in your ears, and do what it says; once your C25K programme is done, walk to the finish. That way you get the best of both worlds, and set a time. Remember to get your Parkrun barcode before you go!
I started Park Run on week 7 - did my runs then walked the rest. You will be fine! As said above just keep to your normal pace. Tell a lie I did half a Park Run in Manchester when visiting my brother, I was only on week 2! Loved it and am now hooked! Enjoy! 😁👍🏃🤗
I have decided to complete couch25k week 9 run 3 before I go off to join a local park run. That will be a new year's resolution. The idea of getting in there earlier appealed to me, but nothing to date has set me back on couch25K and I don't want to tempt fate. I do some walking only during the rest days, and am thinking of some upper body exercises and some mild cycling in between, but I am not going to jeopardize completing couch25K. My graduation plan date also coincides with the end of 2018 (with 3 days to spare only for contingency), and it will be a fitting milestone after my worst year for health on record during 2018.
