So, Week 2, Run 1 today. I went to Runner's World yesterday and did a gait analysis and came home with a shiny new pair of trainers. I am amazed by how springy running trainers are compared to my normal (admittedly quite cheap) gym trainers, and I rather enjoyed trying them out by running on the treadmill and up and down the shop, despite feeling a bit self-conscious. This morning, however, I put the trainers on and decided they weren't quite right for me. They are quite low profile, and slip a bit too much at the back, something I semi-suspected in the shop but was a bit caught up in the moment to acknowledge. However, I decided that this and the impending rain was not going to put me off, so put on my old trainers and went out; I got back just before the heavens opened! I found the 90 second runs challenging, but not as awful as I had been imagining, and think once I find the right trainers for me, it will be even better.

Rain, rain, go away....
Your new shoes may well have two extra unused lace holes at the top. If so, there is a cunning way to utilise them to make your shoes as snug as a bug
Have a look before heading back to the shop! 😀
A-ha! There is one unused lace hole - thanks! Just tried it, and it is better, but still a bit too much slippage I think. I think my problem might be that I have long feet, so have to wear men's shoes, but my feet are also narrow, so men's shoes are often too wide. It's something I have with normal shoes as well, so it doesn't surprise me it's the case with running shoes as well. But am confident I will find the right pair. Thanks again!
The extra lace lacing to draw them in is a bit of a faff. You have to check it out on Google to see what I mean. This explains it ....

He went a bit tight for me though!
