WEIGHT LOSS

Hi this is partially a question for ladies and mainly for both men and women.

I have measured myself and still the same around waist and hips but top half losing (ladies only bit). How long did it take on measurements for hips and waist to reduce?

It varies but my guess would be that most people can see/measure tangible differences by week 5 or 6 of c25k.

Thought I would do measurement b4 weigh in Friday. Gutted I remained same hips and waist thought at least 1-2 inches gone seeing as every other day I walk a lot visiting my dad and housework on top of that. I know some people lose lbs more than inches and vicer versa. Think it was cos of the idiots heckling at me earlier too got too me a bit

I started seeing a difference once I was doing runs of 25 mins plus. My waist has stayed the same but I've lost more from my hips. The best thing though is that my shape overall has changed & for the first time post -kids I have developed inner thighs that go in and not out! 😊

I had to make a change to my eating habits-the running alone hasn't been enough for me.

The changes you're waiting for will come. It sounds like you're active & on the right track. Ignore the hecklers. They don't deserve your attention.

Sorry to hear that your money was stopped - I just think that's immoral.

If you've been sanctioned make sure you appeal it. (Well ask for a MR, which won't change it, but then you can appeal it). This is essential as sanctions are cumulative. Check if you've got a local Welfare Rights person who can help you.

Not sanctioned just kicked off esa however claiming jsa now and i am looking into care work as it will fulfil my life. I was going to do retail then thought na care work after a convo with manager of home my dad is in.

I presume you know about the cookingonabootstrap.com website by Jack Monroe who has been where you are.

As to weight, I was into obese BMI when I started, and already checking my calorie intake. By the time I graduated, I was into overweight BMI. My 30 minute runs barely get to 200 calories burned... obviously longer, faster (the latter rarely happens) burns more. So per se, it doesn't do much BUT I suspect that it has a metabolic impact.

My measurements didn't change, but I did lose my 'bustle' just from the programme (not where the tape measure goes) Ultimately, over 2 years, I got to a healthy BMI... and have kept it off for several more years. But the measurements don't look so impressive - I've a good way to go to achieve a low risk weight measurement (I'm not built with much of a waist), and despite losing 20kgs in weight, my dress size has not really changed (I am still mainly buying the same size I was before, only occasional smaller items fit) So the oft recommended 'ditch the scales, embrace the tape measure' would have broken my heart.

However, like you, my chest (band not cup) measurements dropped quite a bit.

BUT the key to success with running is just to do it and try to decouple it from a direct and immediate reward/result. Either way, whether you lose weight or not, you are reducing your risk of ill health and the empowerment that comes from running fuels more directed efforts with intake (those who overeat for emotional reasons perhaps have most to benefit)

Good luck with sorting out the benefits - it's a miserable business. BTDT

It takes quite some time. You are only walking and jogging a bit up to now. Keep up with the healthy eating. If you do these things in combination, ,plus walking more and being more active in general then you will reap the benefits.

Stay on track. Hecklers are moronic so don't let em bother you. Keep going!

Baked beans on toast, or with a jacket spud and some veggies is yummy 😊

I did not lose any weight while doing c25k. Nothing happened until I also started changing my diet.

I've not lost any weight - on week 9 now, but my skirts are definitely looser. I'm cross with myself that I didn't measure before I started. And oddly, people have asked if I have lost weight because I seem to have got thinner round my neck and jaw!!!!!! I think that might be due to gritting my teeth as i plod on.........................

I was on what used to be called income support for a time when I was a single parent - it's not easy, and I really sympathise with you. keep going, thoughxx It sounds like you are a very determined and strong person. Good luck with the job application.

I think everyone's a bit different with where they lose weight and how much difference running on it's own makes. I lost weight from my backside before anywhere else just through running. A combination of healthy eAting and exercise works but it takes time. If you like porridge have it for breakfast, it's cheap, filling and healthy. 👍

on my run days after a convo with my bro who started running from scratch minus couch to 5k has advised me the following food requirements and what to eat he runs 3/4 days and has a weekend binge and he has lost 3 st in 1 year. here is his advice re food: ceral for breakfast, soup for dinner and a protein meal for tea i.e fish and veg/meat and veg and has a weekend blow out. so I have decided on my run days I will be making overnight oats for breakfast as for soup I like o blend peppers, broccolli a bit onion and sprouts together and blitz in blender as for meat/fish i will probably have gammon steak fatless with my greens and he also said no snacking on anything inc healthy snacks. if i follow his regime i guess I maybe be fuller for longer if i have fibre rich breakfasts, veg packed soup and protein and veggy mains. plus 3-4/7 breakfasts I can do overnight and the soup I can batch and freeze. I hope this little food and exercise bit helps new beginners too.

You have to really control what goes in the mouth to lose weight and then not much weight will be lost if any until the end of the programme, just a small amount of muscle toning may be seen. Real weight loss isn't seen until running constant 30 mins 3 times a week with good control of food consumption..But, do you notice how good you feel? Yes? Then that's the start of the benefits, well done keep on going, SLOWLY..😊
