Hi there, today I completed W6R1 and I am enjoying the runs and have to stop myself going out every day. However, since I started, my weight has stayed the same. I'm following a healthy eating plan but weight not budging. Not gaining, but not losing and finding it frustrating. Any ideas/advise welcome.
Weight Loss: Hi there, today I completed W6R... - Couch to 5K
Weight Loss
Hi Dazzlingdonna
Don’t forget muscle weighs more than fat. Try measuring yourself.
I haven’t changed much either but I’m sure I’m a bit ‘sleeker’.😺
This is not a weight loss programme and you may or may not lose weight..but... you will be fitter, healthier and more tones
Just stick at it.... slow and steady.. the more you move, eventually you will lose the weight
I've been exactly the same. I've possibly lost 2 or 3 pounds in 5 months!!! BUT (and it's a biggie, hence the capitals ) I've lost at least a dress size and I am loads firmer. I can see my arms are smaller, skirts are super loose and I've finally got into one that's been sat in the wardrobe for 2 years. And I managed to go swimming with my daughter, something I avoid at all costs, cos I look a right sight.
Yes I would like to (and still need to) lose weight but you definitely will see very pleasant benefits that make up for the fact the scales aren't shifting. It just takes a bit more time, then suddenly things change
Just finished W5R3 tonight, yay! I was losing weight steadily on Slimming World before starting C25K (2 stone) & in the last 6 weeks, I've not lost a pound! It's demoralising but agree with Fishypieface - I'm already noticing my shape change & ironically, have had more compliments in the last 4 weeks about weight loss than I ever had before starting C25K! I'm sure if we focus on healthy & strong then the weight loss will take care of itself...eventually! 😂
I lost 12 pounds on Slimming World last year and I still follow the ethos of it (except for red wine!! could be where I am going wrong!! ). Normally I'd have the right hump not losing weight. Part of the reason for starting running was to stop putting on weight, which I seem to do just looking at a doughnut . I didn't expect to change shape so much without loosing weight. I'll definitely take that for now!
While going through the c25k programme you are not really running enough to lose weight (and you don't need to increase your food/treats) but, as has been noticed, you will probably tone up and look better. Once you have graduated and move on to long, slow runs you may start to lose (again, as long as you eat appropriately and don't over indulge in food/treats).
You’re not running very far or fast yet so not burning many calories but that’s not the whole story so keep going The Weight is bound to shift once you burn more calories than you consume. You have to give it time and do the work 🙂👍
you won’t be muscle building on couch to five k so I don’t think you can say that’s the cause for not losing any weight
Drink lots! I have been at my slimming world target weight for over a year but when I started running my weight slowly started going up. Advice was I needed to up my water intake and weight settled back down after a couple of weeks. Give that a go and see if it helps.
I do drink loads at the moment as I do lots of walking too. The days I'm not doing c25k, I walk 7k to 10k and I do the odd munro at weekends if I can. But I will try an extra litre a day to see if it makes any difference. I drink about 2-2.5 liters at moment but like you said may not be enough. Thanks.
You won't lose weight by running until you regularly run well in excess of one hour.............but you are laying the foundation for doing that and doing yourself loads of good, so don't worry.
Same here Donna, I’m at the end of W5 and no weight loss 🤔
I’m finding it very addictive too, I’m pounding away on the exercise bike more than ever on my rest days as well 😱
I started C25K in April of this year, and I've lost close to 3 stone since then--but the weight really started coming off once I graduated and I was regularly running at least 15k a week. But I never could have done that if I hadn't worked through the program in the first place! Keep it up, and you'll almost certainly start to see a difference.
